Charity

At The Hummingbird Bakery we like to do what we can to support incredible charities and help them champion their causes with cupcakes.

Charity Partnerships

Charities we support are:

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity)

Great Ormond Street Hospital provides life-changing treatments to over 600 children each day across the UK. Their pioneering work provides much needed medical breakthroughs and is world-renowned.

Donations to GOSH Charity provides world-class patient centred spaces, funds crucial research into children’s health, offers much needed support for families and children and life-saving medical equipment.

We provide cupcakes and cakes all year round to support events at GOSH.

Customers can also choose to donate to GOSH via the button on our online checkout.

akt

akt is the UK’s first LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity and is credited with opening Purple Door, the first emergency safe house for LGBT young people in the UK.

They are focused on providing safe homes, mentoring, training, advocacy and support to young people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment after coming out to their parents, care givers and peers.

They offer a national online support service and regional service centres in the North West, North East, Bristol and London.

Every Pride at The Hummingbird Bakery we make limited edition Pride Cupcakes topped with a rainbow fondant flag and a donation from the cupcake’s sale goes to akt.

Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust

Founded to honour the memory of Stephen Lawrence, who was murdered in 1993 in an unprovoked racist attack at the age of just 18 in South East London where he lived, the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust works to create a fairer and more inclusive society.

Stephen aspired to be an architect and to shape the world around him for the better, but tragically he was never able to fulfil his ambition. The Trust was established in his name to inspire and enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds aged 13 to 30 to succeed in their career of choice, regardless of their race, ethnicity or background.  It empowers communities to tackle disadvantage and discrimination and works tirelessly to create a fairer society, where anyone can fulfil their dreams and potential.

The Hummingbird Bakery supports the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust with ongoing product donations of cupcakes and cakes.

Customers can also choose to donate to the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust via the button on our online checkout.

Charity Collections

Food Drop

The Hummingbird Bakery also uses the Food Drop tech platform, which aims to reduce food waste and support local charities in the process through surplus food item redistribution. We use their system to help charities book free collections of unsold products at our bakeries. This ensures that our leftover products go to those who really need them.

If you are a charity looking to pick up unsold food, please visit Food Drop here.

Free Charity Cupcake Collections

We hate food waste and we love supporting our neighbouring charities, so we offer all of our leftover unsold cupcakes at the end of each day to charities for free collection.

The cupcakes are still in irresistible condition and we have many charities who rely on cupcake collections to help support their fundraising.

There is no cost to charities for the cakes and collections can be made a maximum of once a week at one bakery.

How can a charity book a Charity Cupcake Collection?

Charities must book their collection with our Enquiries team and to do so they must fill out a form to provide proof of charity status and confirm their booking with the team. When their collection is approved, they can then come along to their chosen bakery at closing time with boxes to carry their cupcakes away in safely.

Cupcake numbers can’t be guaranteed as these vary from day to day and branch to branch, but we usually will have enough available to help bump up a charity bake sale or add a few treats to a charity event.

If you’d like to enquire about our Charity Cupcake Collections, please contact our Enquiries team at enquiries@hummingbirdbakery.com.

Due to the number of enquiries we receive, please get in touch as early as possible ahead of your desired collection date to ensure your collection is booked in.

If your charity has received cupcakes from our Charity Cupcake Collections, don’t forget to share with us on social media via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We love to support our collecting charities on social media and see how your fundraising is going.

Testimonials from our Charity Cupcake Collectors…

Richmond Food Bank

‘Thank you so much for your delicious cupcakes, which are enjoyed by many people who use our food bank who are currently having a difficult time.’

Parents of Ealing Self-Help Training Scheme

‘Please accept our warmest thanks for your donation of delicious cakes to our charity.’

Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

‘Hummingbird’s unsold cupcake collections have been a huge benefit to our charity over the years. Their beautiful cupcakes have helped to boost our takings at numerous fundraising events, and we are so grateful to them for their support. Funds from our sales featuring Hummingbird cakes have gone towards many different projects to improve patient care at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, including most recently our ‘Butterfly Rooms’ project to create special side rooms for patients receiving end-of-life care.’

Soho Parish PTA

‘Hummingbird Bakery have donated their cupcakes to Soho Parish PTA a number of times over the last few years and they have helped us raise money for the children at Soho Parish Primary School.  The cupcakes are delicious and both adults and children love them.  So thank you!!’

1st Uxbridge Scouts

‘Hummingbird Bakery cakes have helped us raise collectively over £2500 over 18 months. This has been a huge help in getting 36 Scouts aged 14-18 from Greater London Middlesex West and 4 adult volunteers to the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia in the summer of 2019. Our Scouts got to attend the biggest World Scout Jamboree ever with 45,000 scouts from over 150 countries in the world for 2 weeks in West Virginia. Our Scouts have been able to develop themselves as individuals but as a group too. They have been able to experience Scouts from a wide variety of different cultures and backgrounds and learn about others’ home and Scouting life too. They have overcome personal fears and challenges throughout the last two years in preparation for the Jamboree and have developed into future leaders and ambassadors for Scouting. We cannot thank all the team at Hummingbird Bakery for all their donations over the last 18 months, it has helped us massively!’
