The Hummingbird Bakery, home of London’s favourite Rainbow Cake, is celebrating Pride this year with a special edition charity cupcake.
All proceeds from the sale of our colourful rainbow flag Pride Cupcake will go to the Albert Kennedy Trust (akt) to support their important work in the fight against LGBTQ+ youth homelessness.
Head over to one of our six London bakeries from 4th July – 7th July to get your Red Velvet limited edition Pride Cupcake and help support akt.
akt was set up in 1989 by Cath Hall, a foster carer who became aware of the risk of rejection and ejection of young LGBT people from their family homes.
akt provides the world’s first ever service for homeless LGBTQ+ youth, offering safe homes, support and mentoring. In 2012 they opened Purple Door which is the UK’s first emergency safe house for young LGBTQ+ people.
As well as offering homes away from hostile or abusive environments, akt offers LGBTQ+ young people support to find education, training and opportunities to celebrate their identities and improve their life outcomes.
Hand-decorated charity Pride Cupcakes are on sale from 4th July – 7th July 2019 in-store only at our six London bakeries and each cupcake is priced at £3.45.
